I found an article on the New Zealand Herald website that really made me feel sick inside.
The woman was accused of starving her puppy. The SPCA found a Staffordshire bull terrior locked underneath a Glenn Innes in the Eastern Suburbs on Christmas Eve.
The dog is known as Eve, looked like a carcass and apparently survived by eating her own faecas. Paulette Taki, faced charges including failing to provide Eve with protection from significant injury and disease. Paulette failed to appear in court to face her three charges. There was an arrest warrant made for Paulette after she made a no show in court.
I found this article very disturbing, it was bad enough this women left her 11 month old puppy to starve to death but she couldn’t even face up to the consequences and go to court. It is good that an arrest warrant was made so that Paulette could not get away with her cruel actions she did to her puppy. I cannot understand how anyone could leave their puppy to starve to death, why have a pet if they don’t want to care for it. I hope this women gets her just deserves and faces up to the consequences for her actions.
What do you guys think should happen to Paulette for failing to appear in court?
Do you think people like Paulette should not be able to have pets?

I know it sounds really stupid.. but i read about Eve in a magazine article and when i saw the pictures of her, it made me cry. How can people do that?? Its soo morally wrong! Animals have feelings too and locking that poor puppy underneath a house, in a dark space where she was left to eat her own faeces is not acceptable. Imagine if your parents did that to you. Its makes me so mad!
That woman deserves to go to jail for that. Lock her away in a dark, cold place with crap food and see how she likes it.
thats really sad to read. i agree with ashlee b, like humans, animals also have feelings and this here is an example of unnecessary suffering. The poor puppy (and other animals) clearly do not deserve any type of abuse or cruelity. You can't help but sympathise for the dog from such a dramatic picture taken further up the page showing how mean the woman was.
Yes I no, when you read things like this it makes you see really how cruel some humans are to their animals...
Regarding animals emotions I have just posted an article about a reasearcher who talks about animals and their emotions, I thought it might be relevent...
Also with what you said Ashlee, I agree with you and I think the woman accused should be sent to jail as well, it is what she deserves. It just shows you that the woman really doesnt care because she didnt even show up for her court case.
Yea she definatly needs to go to jail. We should have stronger law enforcement on issues like this!
